Marriage Application

How to Apply for a Marriage License

You may apply in person for a marriage license Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. except legal holidays. You can apply online any time, but in order to complete the online application process, both applicants must go together to the Court between the hours listed above, with any additional required materials mentioned in these instructions.

At least one of the applicants must be a resident of Clinton County and the marriage must be performed in the State of Ohio within 60 days. If both applicants are from out of state but wish to be married in Clinton County, they must obtain their license in Clinton County.

If either applicant is under 18 years of age, contact the court for further information.

A valid photo ID is required.

If either applicant has been previously married and divorced, a file stamped copy of the final order or decree granting the divorce or dissolution is required for all previous divorces. If widowed, a copy of the death certificate is required.

Cost of the license is $40 (cash only). Checks and credit cards are not accepted.
